ABAI Honors Departing Directors for Dedicated Service
At their Annual Board of Directors (BOD) Meeting held in Nashville, TN, in October 2011, the ABAI celebrated the service of four directors who concluded their six-year terms. James R. Baker, Jr., MD, David P. Huston, MD, Anne-Marie A. Irani, MD, and John M. Kelso, MD served on ABAI's BOD from 2006-2011 in a variety of roles that ranged from item writing and exam construction to shaping Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and establishing standards for conjoint board credentials and residency review requirements.
Dr. Baker, of the University of Michigan, was ABAI Treasurer and MOC Task Force member who served on the Conjoint Credentials, Nominating, Personnel, Finance, and President's Search Committees.
Dr. Huston, of Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine-Houston, is the current ABIM Director Representative, and past Chair of the ABAI President's Search Committee. He served as a Certification Examination Co-Chair and was a member of the Conjoint Credentials, Conjoint Standards, Ethics and Professionalism, MOC, Nominating, Exam Question, and Residency Review Committees.
Dr. Irani, of Virginia Commonwealth University, continues her involvement as ABAI's current ABMS Director at Large. She was on ABAI's Nominating, MOC and Conjoint Credentials Committees and served as ABAI's ABMS Representative.
Dr. Kelso, of the Scripps Clinic, San Diego, CA, worked as a Co-Chair for both Certification and Maintenance of Certification Exams. He was a member of the MOC, Nominating, Conjoint Credentials, and Examination Question Committees.
