Reciprocal MOC Credit available
to ABAI Diplomates
Diplomates certified with The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) may receive reciprocal Part II and Part IV Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit for participation in ABIM's or ABP's MOC program. This means to participate in The American Board of Allergy & Immunology (ABAI) MOC program, you will only need to complete Part I (Professional Standing) and Part III (Cognitive Expertise). Additionally, you will be required to complete an attestation form regarding participation in your primary Board's MOC program. Please note that once you choose to participate reciprocally in the ABIM or ABP MOC program, you will be expected to complete the entire MOC program and will not be able to switch back to the ABAI MOC program.
Exactly, what do I have to do for Part I and Part III?
- Part I - Professional Standing
- Maintain an unrestricted medial license throughout your MOC cycle
- Remit annual MOC fee
- Update demographic and contact information as required on ABAI Diplomate Portal Page
- Part III - Cognitive Expertise
- Successful completion of ABAI Secure MOC Examination in year 8, 9 or 10
I am a diplomate of ABIM or ABP, what are the requirements for receiving reciprocal MOC credit?
- Must be meeting MOC requirements with ABIM or ABP
- Participating in ABAI's MOC program
If I am participating in ABAI MOC program, does the ABIM and the ABP offer reciprocal MOC credit?
Yes. Please contact your primary care Board for information regarding their reciprocal MOC credit requirements.
If you meet the above criteria, please complete the Reciprocal MOC Credit Attestation Form. If your request for reciprocal credit is approved by the ABAI, you will be awarded Part II and Part IV MOC credit which will be reflected on the ABAI Web Portal. The following will still be required in order to recertify with the ABAI:
- Copies of your valid, current, unrestricted licenses
- Payment of the annual MOC fee
- Completion of the Maintenance of Certification Secure Examination
The ABAI audits diplomates' reciprocal MOC participation on a yearly basis. Diplomates who lose certification or are no longer current in the ABIM and/or ABP MOC program will be required to complete ABAI's MOC program. The specific requirements will appear on the ABAI Web Portal.
